So.....whatever the exact body count is, it seems to be an undeniable fact that Barack Obama has signed of on drone strikes that have killed more children than any school shooting and perhaps all combined. Yet the media doesn’t present him as a deranged and evil man and the vast majority of people don't think of him this way either. Far from it he won a Nobel Peace Prize and is Time Magazines Man of the Year.
If you don't see Obama as being just like any other child killer, how do you reconcile this contradiction? Is Obama's violence ok because it's carried out by the state? Is it more acceptable to kill children in Pakistan and Yemen than in the USA? Or is it that Obama doesn't directly intend to kill children, that they are collateral damage?

Barack Obama doesn't weep for dead foreign kids because they're not on his radar. He was visibly upset about the dead kids in Connecticut because he is a patriot.
ReplyDeleteUltimately, people only really care about themselves. This is the way of the world.
On a side note, I only weep watching Forrest Gump.
Interesting choice of words because in a very literal sense they are 'on his radar', or whatever tracking technology drone bombs use.
ReplyDeleteI'll put up a post addressing your point further later on.
Excellent. People are able to function as normal if the problem isn't apparent to them. I can imagine this is an evolutionary trait.
ReplyDeleteConsider the film The Beach; when they throw out the moaning lads who where half eaten by the sharks.
